Vote Al Florido for Harris County Constable Precinct 5 on May 29, 2012.

An employee of Harris County Commissioner Steve Radack was detained Tuesday on suspicion of stealing campaign signs belonging to Al Florido, a challenger to incumbent Precinct 5 Constable Phil Camus, whom Radack supports.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Bob Van Pelt also is seeking the seat.

On March 12, 2012 Al Florido drew position 1 on the ballot for Harris County Constable, Precinct 5. Usually drawing the number one position means the candidate is expected to receive at least 10 % of the votes from their constituents, at least from the past election numbers. During Primary elections, this can mean either make it or break it for these candidates. The expected voter turnout is usually not as high for primary elections versus November elections. In 2010, the population of registered voters for Harris County was 1,882,154 and the number of precincts reporting were 885. Out of all of those different precincts and the million plus registered voters, only 8.94 % or 159,821 of those voters showed up to make a difference during the primary elections in March 2010.
